Top Family Friendly Attractions in the USA

The best part of every year is when it is finally time for a family vacation. Every family has a different view of what a family vacation should look like, and while some families may head to the same beach every year, you may venture somewhere new every single time.

Here are the top family friendly attractions in the USA:

1. Disney World
Disney World is one of the most popular family friendly attractions in the United States, which is why it made the top of our list. With theme parks that include the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom, your family will have plenty to do on your vacation. And if you get tired of the theme parks, you can always head over to one of the water parks or Disney Springs for a day or two.

2. Yellowstone National Park
This was the first of all the national parks and kids of all ages will love the geysers that can be seen throughout the park. Of course, the favorite geyser is Old Faithful, which typically shoots steam into the air every ninety minutes or so. Your entire family will love walking the trails as you go from one geyser to the next, but make sure you keep an eye out for the Bighorn sheep, elk, bears, bison, and other animals that roam freely through the park.

3. Sanibel Island and Captiva Island
These two islands are on the Gulf side of Florida and you’ll fall in love with the bright white sand and the crystal-clear water. We love walking along the shoreline on both these islands as we look for unique seashells that wash up onto the sand. Your kids will love looking for the ghost crabs that burrow in the sand, but you will prefer to sit and relax while you wait to spot a dolphin or two out in the water.

4. Dinosaur Valley State Park
This state park can be found in Glen Rose, Texas and it is a great option if you or your children love dinosaurs. You’ll see some of the best-preserved dinosaur footprints at Dinosaur Valley, and your entire family will have fun as you follow them all through the Paluxy riverbed. Even those family members who could care less about dinosaurs will have fun, because you’re guaranteed to get wet on this little adventure.

5. Pacific Coast Highway Drive
This coastal drive takes at least four days to do, but the sights that you see along the way are worth every second of driving time. As you go along Highway 1, you’ll want to stop at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, the Pt. Lobos State Natural Reserve, Hearst Castle, and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. In many of these areas, you and your family will spot otters, seals, sea lions, and sometimes even a whale or two.

6. Kennedy Space Center
Space lovers will enjoy getting into the Shuttle Launch Experience flight simulator, where they can see what it must have been like each time the space shuttles went into outer space. We recommend eating lunch with one of the astronauts, if they are available, and taking part in the family Astronaut Training Experience program. You’ll all learn a lot and have fun together at the same time.

7. Wisconsin Dells
This city is the capital of waterparks and you will have a hard time deciding which one of the eighteen you should visit. In fact, we guarantee that you visit more than two or three when you are here, because they will all seem fantastic. We recommend starting with Noah’s Ark Waterpark, which is the largest waterpark in North America, before heading over to Mt. Olympus or utilizing the waterpark at the resort you are staying at.

8. Plimouth Plantation
Your children may surprise you and love every minute as they step back in time to the 1620s at the Plimouth Plantation. Actors spend their days recreating the events of those early years for you, and you can watch as they farm, cook, and do their other daily chores. Don’t miss seeing Plymouth Rock when you are there, it is much smaller than you think it is, and take your time aboard the Mayflower II, which is a replica of the original.

9. City Museum
This museum can be found in St. Louis and kids of all ages will love crawling through the suspended tunnels and man-made caves. We recommend taking a ride on the Ferris wheel that is up on the top of the building before sliding down the ten-story slide.

There are so many fascinating areas to take children nowadays, so your family vacation will never need to be boring. We recommend that you sit your family down and let them choose where they want to go, whether they think of it on their own or you provide them with a few places to choose from. This way, they will be invested in your family vacation as much as you are, and everyone will have a wonderful time.
